Mother guilt be damned! I kicked the boys out of the Snit Room and let them move all their Xbox crap upstairs (which I may live to regret). And I took the room for my studio. I had been thinking about getting a studio downtown, but the more I thought about the odd hours I'd be keeping, the more I got a little freaked about running into unsavoury characters. The idea was a good one- I just was getting scared with the possibilities. I knew that would affect my creative time.
So, a studio at home seemed the next best thing. Plus the fridge is close. So is the computer. After spending $5000 at Future Shop to buy a 52" tv and complete home-theatre surround sound, the boys will be happy upstairs. And I can close the door to my studio downstairs, light the candles, look at my flying Bird Muffies, and relax.
I feel this is a step in the right direction. My goal is to produce 10 very cool shadowboxes by the end of 2010 so that I can have a show in 2011. My working title is "The Far End of Something".
No, I don't have a window, but with all my cool stuff around me, I won't even notice.
Bring on the ideas! Where's my Muse? Now I need a Muse.

Well, I didn't get accepted to the Juried Show. But I am not taking it personally. Some curators are going to like what I do; others won't.
In the meantime, I've started my first art journal at the urging of two of my artistic friends (one of whom DID get accepted to the Juried Show) and it is coming along nicely. That's actually been fun!
And while I compose my new shadowbox, which so far consists of the Virgin Mary and some oven mitts, here's a picture of Muffy and a fish, entitled "The Kiss", which I rather like.
